An hour after being reported missing, a high school student and Prom King were found dead in Appanoose County, Ioha, earlier this summer.

According to reports, on June 26, 2024, while swimming, Ayden Beeson, then 17, vanished beneath the water’s surface and has not been seen since.

In an immediate press statement, the Appanoose County Sheriff reported that they had received a 911 call about a possible drowning at Rathbun lake. Although the Appanoose County Water Rescue team and the County Sheriff’s Office worked together to find Ayden, the tragic story ended in a terrible way.

According to reports, the water rescue crew discovered the teen’s body in 15 to 20 feet of water. At the scene, Ayden was pronounced dead.

The 17-year-old’s popularity in the Centerville School District exacerbated the catastrophe. Ayden excelled at football and tennis. Before his spring graduation, he was named Prom King.

“Losing such a great kid in his prime is devastating for our community, family, and the lives he would have impacted…” He was polite to everyone. He was an extremely popular youngster whom everyone liked. “There wasn’t a single person in that school who he didn’t want to be nice and kind to,” stated Superintendent Mark Taylor.

Being Ayden Beeson’s coach was an honor. Ayden became the only Big Red Tennis player because he didn’t mind working hard.

The Centerville Community Schools posted a statement on their Facebook page the day following his death, expressing their “deepest sadness” upon learning of one of their kids’ deaths.

The district mentioned that Ayden participated actively in his school community and that teachers and students knew him for his “genuine kindness.”
